Prince Harry and King Charles clashed during a tense phone call following the publishing of a letter on behalf of the monarch clarifying his son is not a working royal, it has been claimed.
A royal insider says the father and son had "weekly" contact over the phone prior to the strongly worded letter that highlighted Harry and Meghan's non-royal status, which in turn left the pair "surprised".
According to the source, the King had been in "direct contact" since the Sussexes moved back to the UK, but "not anymore". Instead, Harry and Charles are back to communicating through advisors, after their last phone call got "heated", News24 reports.

They said: "Their phone calls had been on a weekly basis and were nothing more than a typical exchange of pleasantries about the kids, their schooling and various logistics around seeing them.
"But since the Sussex statement, Charles is not engaging with Harry directly until ‘cooler heads prevail'".
The King's letter, sent out to senior Government officials, military leaders, Lord Lieutenants, and Harry and Meghan's team, clarified that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex cannot use their royal titles of His and Her Royal Highness, and that they do not present the Royal Family.
It also stated that they should be referred to as "private citizens".

The spokesperson said the couple "were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance".
