“We’re helping Mom transition. She can’t live here alone.”
“I did live here alone until dawn,” I said.
Peter’s face crumpled.
“Mom, don’t make it sound like that.”
I looked at him.
“How should it sound, Peter?”
He swallowed.
Martin answered for him.
“You need care. We made a hard choice.”
