Peter’s community service began in October.
Naomi told me not to visit.
So of course I almost did.
Instead, she brought me a report.
Peter helped serve lunch at the senior center twice a week. He folded chairs. He drove one man to dialysis. He learned how many old people still had names after their children stopped using them.
On his fourth week, he wrote me a letter.
Not an apology exactly.

There is a lady named June whose son drops groceries on her porch but never comes in. I used to think that was enough. It is not.
