Recognition that the conditional inheritance clause had been triggered sufficiently to preserve the issue for probate.
Martin whispered something to his lawyer.
The judge heard enough.
“Mr. Carter,” she said, “if you are tempted to call this unfair, I suggest you begin your analysis at the bus station.”
