I almost refused.
Then I remembered the woman who mailed ten dollars and said her sons were circling.
The reporter came to my porch.
She was young and nervous and kept calling me inspiring.
I told her to stop.
“Tell the truth,” I said. “I was humiliated, abandoned, angry, and lucky enough to have documents.”
She wrote that down.
“Anything else?”
“Yes. Children do not become owners of a parent’s life because they are tired of worrying.”
